September 30th, 2009 --

On September 26th, around 3,000 people gathered at 31 sites across the country for the largest Chiari event ever held, the Conquer Chiari Walk Across America 2009.

In some places it rained.  In some places the weather was beautiful.  But everywhere people had a good time.  I had the pleasure of attending the walk in Leesburg, VA, and it was amazing.  Many locations had more than 100 people attend, and in Lake County, Indiana almost 400 people showed up for the event.  The Lake County site, led by Cyndi Vanek, also raised the most money (although it was close), pulling in more than $25,000.  Way to go Cyndi!

In total, I am proud to announce that we raised over $250,000 for research!!

I know that at each site there were many volunteers whose names I don't know, but I do want to say thank you.

Thank you also to all of our corporate sponsors.

And a special thanks to Melissa Neff for all her hard work.

And of course, I would like to recognize the site organizers for everything they did.  It's a  huge job, with many challenges, and they delivered big time.
